They're closing down another bar we went to in our youth. We always drank cheap beer on Monday nights. We always sat in the same booth talking about school politics and teenage rebellion. Funny how you say some things never change. I feel like nothing stays the same. Do you remember the punks spilling beer on the dance floor dancing to punk rock songs? Do you remember the nights we almost drank ourselves to death? "Reckless Abandon" on repeat. Funny how you say some things never change. I feel like nothing stays the same. I feel like nothing stays the same looking back on the past ten years. We grew up. We've lost touch. We spend less time in bars.

Five years ago, the club Carambolage was closed down. During its life span of 30-plus years, the club in Karlsruhe had been like a second home for high school and university students, for table soccer and pool players as well as for enthusiasts of punk, alternative and indie music.

A lot of great nights had been spent and memories had been made inside and outside its four walls from happy hours during high school to parties on the last day of exams at university.

A few memories of those nights made their way into the two songs on "Carambolage" by Spaulding.
